Microneedling uses a pen-shaped tool to deliver tiny punctures to the skin using tiny needles moving very fast vertically in a stamping motion. This stimulates the natural healing process in the skin, resulting in production of new collagen and elastin and a rejuvenated and more youthful complexion. To help with this process, active solutions containing collagen, vitamins and other beneficial ingredients are applied and penetrate the deeper layers of the skin through these tiny channels, to maximise the benefits.

Is Dermapen microneedling safe, is it good for the skin?
When all safety standards are adhered to, Dermapen microneedling is a very safe treatment. This is because skin needling works by using the natural process of your skin’s rejuvenation, unlike more invasive treatments, to reduce signs of ageing and help improve a variety of skin concerns.
Are Dermapen treatments painful?
Scared of needles? Not to worry, you’ll barely see these mini micro needles, which merely “stamp” together on the top layer of the skin, rather than “’injecting” into you. The purpose is to create the tiniest channel punctures, and the Dermapen4™ has more, faster-moving needles than ever before, with a speed of 120 rotations per second. Pain will be minimal compared to traditional Micro-needling and there is really no need for numbing cream. However, if you are too much sensitive to pain, numbing cream is available at an extra-cost.

How many sessions of Dermapen are needed?
The amount of treatments required generally depends on which skin area is to be treated, and what the client is wanting to achieve. If they’re wanting to treat extreme sun damage, deep wrinkles or scars, they may need six treatments for the optimal results. Basic skin conditions such as pigmentation and fine lines may only need between three and four treatments for great results. Clinic is to advise on the frequency of the treatments, but usually between 3 and 6 weeks apart.
What does the skin look like after the Micro-Needling treatment?
Straight after a treatment skin will be noticeably plumper and glowing – but also a little hot and pink, similar to windburn. This may last for 6 to 24 hours, so it’s not advised to do a Dermapen treatment in the two days before an event.
How to look after the skin after treatment?
Here’s no need to cleanse or moisturise the skin for approx. 12 hours, with moisturising products applied, so don’t wash or apply any creams before bed. It’s important to avoid sun exposure, and for 24 hours post-treatment to minimise use of active skin products and non-mineral makeup. Skin may feel a little dry the few days post treatment, after which it will become smooth and radiant within a week.
